Learning Gardens for New Canaan Public Schools

Let me introduce you to Amy Carpi, a South School mother who is coordinating the effort to bring learning gardens to New Canaan Public Schools starting with the three elementary schools.  The early interest from administrators, principals, teachers, parents and students is truly inspiring.

Learning gardens offer opportunities to teach plant science and ecology in addition to art, music, math and creative writing.  In the garden, our children can learn about sharing and teamwork as well as the interconnected web of life.  A strong garden project needs a strong team, and we encourage all dedicated and motivated members of our community to become involved in this important investment in our childrens' future.

If you share the vision and the energy to help bring Learning Gardens to our town's schools, please come to the organizational meeting on Wednesday, June 20 at 4:00 pm in the Lamb Room at the New Canaan Library.  Anyone who would like to attend should email Amy Carpi to receive a meeting agenda and discussion points.
